Day 1 Delhi
On arrival in Delhi you will be taken to The Claridges for a two night stay. That evening a welcome dinner is arranged in a traditional setting.

Day 2 Delhi
Your morning tour of Old Delhi includes Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, and the bazaars of Chandni Chowk. The afternoon’s sightseeing of New Delhi includes the architecturally fascinating Lutyens buildings and the iconic India Gate, Qutub Minar victory tower and Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site.

Day 3 Delhi – Varanasi
Fly to Varanasi in the morning and transfer to the Taj Ganges for an overnight stay. In the evening, witness the spectacular Ganga Aarti, the ceremonial worship of the River Ganges which encompasses a magical mix of sounds, sights and scents to engage all your senses. The vision of thousands of lamps floating on the Ganges in honour of the River Goddess is a truly memorable experience.

Day 4 Varanasi
An early start is well worth it for a return to the ghats and a boat ride to see devotees offering prayers and performing rituals at sunrise. In the afternoon, visit Sarnath, the site of Buddha’s first sermon and explore the museum.

Day 5 Varanasi – Lucknow
Transfer to the railway station to board the Amritsar-Howrah Mail to Lucknow, which arrives late in the afternoon. Transfer to the Taj Residency for a two night stay.

Day 6 Lucknow
Enjoy a full day sightseeing of Lucknow including the Rumi Darwaza gateway, the Bara Imambara with its famous maze, the beautiful Chhota Imambara monument, the British Residency and the elite La Martinerie School. You will be taken through the roads and alleys of old Lucknow to get a sense of its genteel mannerisms and etiquette as you visit perfume stalls, flower markets and merchants selling fine chikankari hand-embroidered kurtas, shirts and saris.

Day 7 Lucknow – Agra
This morning you will drive to Agra where the recommened hotel the Taj View Hotel. In the afternoon, explore the imposing Agra Fort before visiting the Taj Mahal at sunset when it is particularly beautiful.

Day 8 Agra – Unchagaon
This morning enjoy an excursion to fascinating Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital of Emperor Akbar. Archaeologists believe the ‘City of Victory’ was built to provide leisure and luxury to its prominent residents, and you can still see the remains of its mosques, tombs, elephant tower, and a drum house for musicians to proclaim the emperor’s arrival. Then drive to Unchagaon. Stay overnight at Fort Unchagaon, an elegant manor house. In the evening, explore the village to see the pottery and jaggery (unrefined sugar) making units.

Day 9 Unchagaon – Jim Corbett National Park
Early in the morning, visit the Ganges ghats to witness the morning prayers. Later, we will drive to Corbett National Park and stay at Jim’s Jungle Retreat for two nights.

Day 10 Jim Corbett National Park
Nature lovers are in for a treat with a full day of jungle activities including morning and afternoon game drives in Jim Corbett National Park, the oldest national park in India. Set in the Western Himalayan foothills around the Ramganga River, its splendid landscape of moist deciduous forests is an ideal home to a diverse mix of wildlife including 500 bird species and a variety of mammals and reptiles.

Day 11: Corbett – Haridwar
Drive to Haridwar in the morning. Stay at Taj Pilibhit House for two nights. The evening arti or ceremonial worship is a quintessential Haridwar experience. As the priests commence their loud chants and prayers in Sanskrit to the accompaniment of cymbals and drums, the glistening reflections of the flames from large lamps on the surface of the dark river water will leave you awestruck.

Day 12 Haridwar
Haridwar is one of the holiest Hindu cities and pilgrims arrive here in droves to bathe in the fast-flowing Ganges. Surrounding the city are impressive temples, both ancient and modern, dharamsalas (pilgrims’ rest houses) and many ashrams (spiritual hermitages) that you will visit on your guided tour. In the afternoon you will drive to Rishikesh, another holy city famous for its Yoga ashrams and ancient temples. Witness the spectacular evening aarti on the Ganges before returning to your hotel in Haridwar.
